XPOS functions are as simple to operate as other EFTPOS features.

Products and services

1.  Customer requests a product.
2.  Merchant selects the product from the menu on the EFTPOS terminal or the Point of Sale.
3.  Merchant accepts payment in the form of a credit, debit, charge card or cash.
4.  When the payment is confirmed, the EFTPOS terminal or the Point of Sale simply prints the voucher.
5.  Vouchers are redeemed by visit, e.g. attraction tickets, or upon activation by the customer, e.g. they ring a number on the voucher and enter the PIN on the voucher to obtain a mobile recharge.

Gift card

1.  Customer requests a gift card for a particular amount.
2.  Merchant selects the gift card function from the menu on the EFTPOS terminal, or the Point of Sale.
3.  Merchant accepts payment in the form of a credit, debit, charge card or cash.
4.  Merchant inserts a new gift card into the EFTPOS terminal and the requested amount is added to the card.
5.  The recipient of the gift card can then use it to pay for goods and services at participating stores, like a normal debit card, through the store's EFTPOS terminal.

Bill payment

1.  Customer receives a bill from their biller.
2.  Customer decides to pay the bill at a merchant outlet, and presents it while doing their normal shopping.
3.  Merchant captures the biller code and customer reference number via the barcode scanner provided.
4.  Customer selects their payment method (debit, credit or cash) and confirms the amount being paid.
5.  The bill payment transaction is then processed by the Bank.
6.  A receipt is printed for each bill payment transaction. The receipt lists the bill details, transaction trace number, receipt number and the amount paid.

Bartercard

1.  Bartercard members can now process their transactions electronically through XtraPOS.
2.  Bartercard member purchases a product or service from a Bartercard merchant.
3.  Merchant selects the product or service from the menu on the XtraPOS terminal or from the Point of Sale.
4.  Merchant accepts payment in the form of a Bartercard.
5.  Merchant receives confirmation immediately through their terminal.
6.  Merchant has the benefit of cleared funds in their account almost immediately - no need to spend time completing paper vouchers.

Products & services you can sell with XtraPOS

XPOS now offers a suite of more than 150 products, including:

Mobile phone recharge - customers with prepaid mobile phones can top up their phone credit. They can choose the telecommunication supplier and the amount of credit they wish to purchase. Retailer margin: 5-11%.

Calling cards - for use from fixed-line public and home phones for economical interstate or international calls. Retailer margin: 15-20%.

Internet recharge - customers with Internet access accounts can top up their credit. Retailer margin: 15-25%.

Ring tones, logos, SMS - purchasers can download prepaid ring tones, screen logos and games to their mobile phone. Retailer margin: 15-27%.

Home phone recharge - the credit on home phone accounts can be topped up. Retailer margin: 10%.

CityLink tolling (Victoria only) - 24-hour or weekend toll passes can be purchased, or a toll account topped up. Retailer margin: $0.55 per item.

Attraction tickets - prepaid tourist attraction tickets can be purchased. Retailer margin: 2-15%.

Magazine subscriptions - subscriptions to more than 50 popular titles. Retailer margin: 5%.

Fishing licences - in NSW and Victoria, it is now compulsory for all recreational fishers to purchase a fishing licence. Licences can be purchased for various time periods. Retailer margin: 3%.
